Pen Bridge Report : The nation welcomed the Bangla New Year 1432 today with vibrant celebrations and traditional fervour, as Pahela Baishakh was observed across the country. Upholding the rich cultural heritage of Bengal, various cultural organisations and educational institutions in the capital arranged a series of colourful events to mark the occasion.
In Dhaka, Chhayanaut, one of the country’s leading cultural institutions, organised a festive programme featuring nine chorus songs, twelve solo performances, and recitations by renowned singers alongside students of the organisation. The event concluded with a special speech delivered by Chhayanaut’s executive president, Sarwar Ali. A one-minute silence was also observed in memory of the Palestinians martyred in Israeli attacks on Gaza.
One of the day’s highlights was the Barshabaran Ananda Shobhajatra, the traditional New Year procession organised by Dhaka University’s Faculty of Fine Art. The vibrant rally, which began at 9:00am, brought together thousands of participants in colourful masks and traditional attire, celebrating the spirit of unity and hope associated with the Bengali New Year.
Celebrations continued throughout the day with dance recitals, poetry readings, and musical performances held in various parts of the capital and across the country.
